Duties will include: • Hiring / firing instructors, to maintain an adequate staff of instructors of the highest caliber and assist them with their professional growth; leading them in everyday operations of the business. • Maintaining instructor records and ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations as well as affiliate rules and regulations. • Maintaining student records and ensuring timely submission of student info to the ASA database. • Teaching classes 101 through 104 and 114. • Scheduling classrooms, boats, and instructors to meet student demand. • Ensuring availability of necessary training aids including boats, PFDs, classroom supplies, tests, etc. • Coordinating an annual IQC. • Overseeing maintenance and repair of school boats, liaising with staff maintenance personnel to ensure safety, appearance, and reliability. • Liaising with the management of the resort on which the school is located to ensure smooth interaction between the two businesses. • Managing the school's sailing club. • Keeping the school owner informed of any personnel, logistics, or financial issues involving the school or its staff . You must have a minimum OUPV and will be subject to random drug testing. Non-smokers preferred, and please no drinking problems. This is a leadership / management position. We’re looking for someone who can take the helm of the company and run it efficiently. The outgoing (retiring) director, who has been with us for well over a decade, will make himself available for consultation. You must be able to function independently as we are looking for someone to basically run the show and grow the business. The possibility also exists of running our boat rental / charter business, Morning Star Charters. Compensation to be negotiated as salary, salary plus commission, or straight commission. Since the cost of living in the Florida Keys is very high, we can provide quarters as part of the compensation package. We also have a well-protected anchorage right in front of our docks if you are a liveaboard. We’re looking for a full-time long-term team member who will grow with the company. If you have ever worked at a sailing school and thought “I could run this place better”, here’s your chance to prove it. The American Sailing Academy is located on the grounds of the Key Lime Sailing Club and Cottages, a sailing resort in Key Largo, Florida. KLSC is an “old keys” type resort with something a cult following of guests who come and stay every year, some several times a year. The owner of the school and the resort is one of the most easy-going guys you will have ever worked with. This is a rare opportunity. We are looking for someone who wants not just a good paycheck, but who will also take ownership in the plant and the process and pride in his or her accomplishments. If you are an experienced sailor / instructor, have good business knowledge, the ability to lead subordinates, and a desire to build something great, you should apply. Retired and Honorably Discharged military are encouraged to apply. To apply, send a résumé to captg@keylimesailing.com. If you want to include a cover letter describing why you think you are a good match for the position, that would be a plus. Here’s the process:  Email a cover letter and/or résumé to captg@keylimesailing.com not later than COB 06 August 2025. Please put “DIRECTOR” in the subject line of your email.  If, by your résumé, you appear to be a candidate, we call you for a telephone interview and question / answer session  If the phone interview goes well, we invite you down to stay at the resort for a few days so you can meet us and the rest of the staff, check out the facilities, and have some more questions and answers.  If all of the above is positive, you start your new career. Thank you for your attention, we look forward to hearing from you.
